Hi Susan, congratulations on your 50th EELS, and another great post! Following the theme of cards, I'd like to bring to your attention Pushkin's short story "The Queen of Spades" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Queen_of_Spades_(story) (1834), a classic of Russian Literature.
Ooo neat, I will read it! I have a big hole in my repertoire where the Russians should be, and I know you are well versed. I briefly was inspired after reading A Swim in a Pond in the Rain but then got overwhelmed trying to figure out all the best translations. Maybe YOU should be the translator.
I think you can trust the works by acclaimed translators such as Robert Chandler, and this golden couple: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Pevear_and_Larissa_Volokhonsky. Thanks for your kind words, Susan, but no publisher would entrust an English literary translation of Russian Lit. to an Italian-native, and rightly so.
